    Default Home Dialysis Machine Purchase

    Hello all!

I am new to this community and am in dire need of information on purchasing a dialysis machine for home use.

My father recently has been receiving treatments in Italy, however, he has returned home to Ethiopia and is in need of treatment 3 times a week.

I would like to purchase a machine to send him since the hospitals in Ethiopia are currently inadequate.

I've been searching the web and have yet to have luck. I would greatly appreciate any information, and/or website links to purchasing a hemodialysis machine for home use.

    Thank you!

    Default Machine for sale

I have heard that you can get them on Ebay. I have never seen them but you might have better luck. If not look at Nephrology News and Review, they often have adds of company that sells used machines.

We have the same problem. I am looking also for a hemodialysis machine for my mother. In our place the nearest dialysis center is two hours drive and my mom doesnt like to travel always. So, Im looking for a hemodialysis machine. She had an operation before so peretonial dialysis machine is not an option anymore. kindly share to me your info about hemodialysis machine. This is my email ad tecsongina@gmail.com. I hope to hear from you.

    tnx,

    Default Used Hemo Machines

On EBAY there are some machines for sale. These machines were made in 1995, so exercise caution. I would recommend having them checked out by a tech for the company that made them. Good Luck.

    also check out these suppliers:

I used Google and searched for "used dialysis machines"

    good luck.

On our links page (http://www.homedialysis.org/resources/links.php), you can find a list of companies that sell used and refurbished dialysis machines all over the world.

Please keep in mind that in most cases, a hemodialysis machine also needs water treatment--it is not enough to just buy a machine.

In the U.S. (I can't always tell where folks are posting from), anyone who is eligible for the Medicare ESRD Program due to kidney failure does not have to buy a machine. It's the job of the dialysis center to provide a machine and training for people who want to do dialysis at home. To do this, a center needs to be certified to offer home dialysis. You can read more about this in some of our original articles:

As Dori said, people with Medicare due to ESRD can get the same level of Medicare coverage for home dialysis as for in-center dialysis. People can also have Medicare due to age or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). Anyone with Medicare, no matter the reason why they have it, have coverage for the dialysis machine, supplies and support services. Support services include training from a qualified home training nurse and in-person clinic or phone follow up with the home training nurse, the dietitian, and the social worker.

I'd think twice about buying a dialysis machine off eBay. Buying a machine locks you into technology that may already be out of date. In fact, the last time I looked on eBay for dialysis machines (which was not that long ago), some of them were the same machines that were used in clinics where I worked 20+ years ago. Technology has changed a lot since then.

COBE Centry 3 dialysis machines were introduced in 1986. Before you buy any 20+ year old dialysis machine be sure that the person or company selling the machine is the real owner of it. Next ask for its maintenance records (all U.S. machines should have records of maintence whether used in a clinic or at home) and what kind of warranty (if any) you will have as well as whether Gambro which acquired COBE still provides replacement parts.

    Hello,

It has been a while since you post this question, but I am in a similar situation now for my mother. Any info is sincerely appreciated! Did you manage to buy one? Which type? Do you know any supplier available in Ethiopia?

    Thank you,
