Home dialysis mistake

Today was our first day on home dialysis alone(hemo). After about two hours, we noticed the arterial line and veinous lines were in the wrong way. We detached and corrected and dialyzed for another 90 minutes. Was there any harm done?

Done it myself. Even nurses occasionally!! No harm but you may get some unusual pressure readings of the A & V. Which can be an indicator… You’ll often find one pressure unusually different, if you don’t notice the lines!

Thanks JW77. You were correct about the pressure and I am still here!

The bigger mistake would be flipping the filter/kidney the wrong way, as some dialyzers are much more specific in terms of which direction the blood must flow over the semi-permeable membranes of the capillaries.
