KidneyTalk

Check out this week’s show, Lori Hartwell and Stephen Furst speak with a specialist in animal-assisted therapy. They discuss the influence that pets can have on our lives and our health.

I have a six year old Australian Shepherd - Cairny. I think having a dog has helped me deal with dialysis. Listening to the show I was thinking that the benifits of pet therapy dogs are available 24/7 when you have your own dog.

This week’s show is …

“On the road again…” Four simple words that once seemed impossible for dialysis patients. But not any longer! On this week’s show, Lori Hartwell and Stephen Furst talk with someone who helps make dialyzing in another city or state (or even another country) a lot easier.

Check it out.

This is a great KidneyTalk that speaks directly to the benefits of high dose dialysis. When you weigh the upside of high dose dialysis it changes the amount of risk that is acceptable in order to get more dialysis.

Um, I hate to sound ignorant, but I’m not even certain what a podcast is, Gus.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Podcasting (Redirected from Podcast)

Podcasting is the method of distributing multimedia files, such as audio programs or music videos, over the Internet using either the RSS or Atom syndication formats, for playback on mobile devices and personal computers. The term podcast, like ‘radio’, can mean both the content and the method of delivery. The host or author of a podcast is often called a podcaster. Though podcasters’ web sites may also offer direct download or streaming of their files; a podcast however is distinguished by its ability to be downloaded automatically using software capable of reading RSS or Atom feeds.

Usually a podcast features one type of ‘show’, with new episodes released either sporadically or at planned intervals such as daily or weekly. In addition, there are podcast networks that feature multiple shows on the same feed.

If you click a link for KidneyTalk the program should just play, make sure your speakers are on.

Here’s more additional information on how to get started on PODCASTING…literally its the wave of internet radio…I think Home Dialysis Central would be cool with their onw PODCASTS…

I just listened to the latest episode of Kidney Talk with guest Bill Halcomb of ihatedialysis.com/ilovenxstage.com and it was a great program. I often can not find 30 minutes of uninterupted time to listen to the podcasts unless it is in the middle of the night. In fact, I haven’t had the time to really check out Bill’s site although I do go there to read the home hemo section. I know Bill visits this site, so Bill if you’re out there, great show…many good points were made! And I saw the pic of you and your son at Renal Support Network…one thing I have to say-he’s a lot better lookin than you lol!!! Continue the good work…

Thanks for the kind words heather, for those interested you can hear the show at the following link: http://www.rsnhope.org/programs/kidneytalkshows/Bill_Epoman_Halcomb/index.php

Also for the record, the show was recorded a couple of months ago and I also talked about the IHD online store and how it was non-profit but that was before I launched http://www.mykidneygear.com which is indeed for profit. I make a small profit on the items sold in the store.
