It might depend on what dialyzer you use.

I have often been under 300 and was told it wasn’t a problem. I use a FX60 dialyser.

I use and F160NR high flux, and need no fluid removed. The machine is set for 500 goal, and the prime and rinseback is not added in. Therefore, I should walk out the same I came in at but don’ t . I have consistently for five yrs. running walked out less by 1/2 to 1 kilo less. Some of the problems are only realized if you have no need for fluid removal which is part of the reason why I wonder if home hemo would solve some of my problems with in center hd… hoping it won’t make matters worse. Whether backfiltration can happen or not depends not only on the machine or settings, but the combinations of machine and dialyzer plus the setings for that particular pt…Lin.

You will probably be Ok on short daily. I think you might have a problem if you were on nocturnal though. Because you’re on for so many hours on nocturnal, even a fairly large weight gain results in a pretty low UF rate. so a low weight gain gives you a very low UF rate. For example, last night, my weight gain was 1.7 kilos. Adding 500 rinseback and 300 ml to drink during treatment, my UF rate over 8 hours was only 310 ml/hr.

Thankyou Pierre, I think on nocturnal I’d have to be awake all night drinking and sitting on the pot  Lin.
