NxStage procedure

Can someone give me a rundown on NxStage procedure from beginning to end as far as time it takes and what you do to conduct a tx? Do you have to report any data to your unit or does the machine relay info through a computer?

So simple, takes less than 20min to setup machine, you have a cartidge that slides in without hassles…that cartridge has all lines and dialyzer embedded…

You also have your dialysate fluid bags to hang…you also add a saline bag to prime it and remove all the air from the lines…

Once before getting on machine you get all vitals and weight then set all you parameters… dialysate flow rate, Ultrafiltration, and blood pump speed…

From there you get you buttonhole needles in and finally connect…from start to finish takes about 45min…only situation it takes longer is when buttonhole needles take long to get in…I write down vitals every 30-45min on a flowchart that is given at end of month on appointment visit…you can also use FAX machine to send out reports…

If the set up takes 45 min. from start to finish what is the most time consuming part of the set up? Can part of the set up be done at another time or waited upon while doing something else? How long does it take to end the tx and get off?
