Carmpat

I am 69 years old female and I’ve had kidney disease for 13 years and I recently started dialysis in a clinic for three weeks the end of May of this year 2021. The doctor put me in the clinic because my potassium was high. I started training on June 14 for home hemodialysis with the NxStage portable machine. I’ve been having trouble cannulated myself for buttonholes. It’s been nine weeks and I still can’t do it so I decided to do sharp sticks and then yesterday in the morning at 6:30 the doctor text me to tell me you can do it. I told him I didn’t want to do it I was tired of being frustrated after 45 minutes of not getting it. Then my husband came home and he told me he doesn’t want me to do sharp stick so I’m back to doing buttonholes. The trainer is supposed to come over tomorrow morning Monday, August 16 to discuss the new technique. I already infiltrated myself twice I’m afraid I’m going to do it again but I can’t get a buttonhole I’m really stuck between both. I’ve tried a wet stick I’ve done different techniques with my hand keeping it to the side turning it down out stretching it. I’m to the point where I’m very frustrated. I don’t know why my Kidney Doctor insist I do buttonholes and my husband is very upset that I forget to take the tourniquet off in between trying to get each vein.
