Airport security

Has anyone had experience with their pd patients flying? I have a new patient who wants to fly soon and he is worried about security thinking he’s wired for a bomb or something. I told him we could write a note for him to carry.
Anyone out there have a story to share regarding this matter?

Pt ought to have no difficulty - I can even bring my sleep apnea machine along and not be questioned. My husband was on PD prior to transplant and we never had problems with catheter questions (it is all non metal and doesn’t ‘show up’ on metal detectors) and when we identified the machine as for dialysis it was always accepted.

Check this TSA website for information on accommodating medical conditions and equipment: http:www.tsa.gov/public/display?theme=156

Also, remember to check the policy of the specific airline you’re flying as to additional baggage allowances of medical equipment or supplies.
