I am looking for information related to Emergency Battery (Solar Generator) back up. I’ve seen and read a few posts on the subject, but most are 5 years or older. One discussion was on the use of Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS). They were using the old UPS systems for computers. The Solar Generator technology has made huge improvements within the last 5 years. I am hoping to set up my HomeChoise Claria with a battery back up system to work through frequent blackouts where Live. Ideally, I am looking to be able to run my machine for 3-4 days before recharging the Solar Generator. Does anyone have any Information on the use of these generators? What Brands are in use for this purpose?
There is a blog on the main Home Dialysis Central site that was written by the spouse of a home HD patient about a year ago. It doesn’t name brands, but it does discuss solar powered generators.
You might want to join the Home Dialysis Central Discussion Group on Facebook and post your message there. You can find it by searching Facebook for Home Dialysis Central Discussion Group. It’s a closed (members only) group so what you post there won’t be seen by non-members if that’s a concern. You’ll have to answer a few questions about your connection to dialysis, what you hope to get out of the group and agree to rules and to treat people kindly before an administrator will admit you.
Hi
You’d be looking for a full solar setup for this to be most effective. Best done by a professional installer. I’ve spoken in the past with my techs (I think what you call mechanics in the USA) a UPS will only last a few hours.
You might want to check out the ‘Everything Electric’ website which is filled with the info on the latest solar and battery tech.
I have solar, but have yet to convince my landlord to install batteries. When the sun shines it costs me £0.00 to run the machine and the rest of the electrics in the house. And this is with a full array of 18 photovoltaic solar panels
I think you’d still need a small cascade of solar generators to keep a machine running for the time you want. Or hope the sun is shining when you need it.
Good luck:)
Hi, you need a battery with a gateway.
