I have a patient with a PD catheter (double coiled)
He has been complaining of pain in the prostate area and bladder with fluid drainage. Catheter was repositioned once. He continue to have this pain. No issues with flushing. I am not able to start PD. Any advice?
I am a social worker, not a doctor, but I found this Renal Fellow Network response to the issue of drain pain. The suggestions include liberal use of laxatives to avoid constipation, raising the height of the cycler machine to reduce suction, and leaving in some dialysate (“tidal” dialysis) to keep the tip of the catheter from irritating tissues.
