A patient was telling us that when he was removing a buttonhole needle, he accidentally lost control of it and it slipped out. He was surpised to find that eventhough the blood began leaking out, it was very minor as compared to when he had done stepladder cannulation and had had a needle slip out… Has anyone else ever experienced this?
Yes I have. But given enough time, (like a few seconds) the blood will spew just like a cannulation with a sharp needle.
Well I quess it’s another advantage of bhs that there is a slight delay before the spurting begins :lol:
Yeah that happened to me it was weird, it was coming out like a drinking water fountain, very minor compared to using a sharp with the ladder method.
