I had a liver transplant over 10 years ago and am doing great in that regard. May soon have to go on Dialysis and there is some question as to having a catheter placed because of the surgery years ago. Any on have a catheter after major surgery to abdomen?
I’ve heard that anti-rejection meds for other kinds of transplants put patients at risk of kidney failure. I looked on PubMed, the National Library of Medicine site where journal articles are published. I found a review of studies that reported in patients that did PD after liver transplant, there was no higher risk of infections. However because there were so few studies that met the criteria for inclusion in the review, it suggested more research is needed.
