Is there a different cannulation technique to be used with an Ellipsys fistula as compared to fistulas created without Ellipsys technique?
great question, no there is no different way to cannulated Ellipsys fistula however "Touch Cannualtion " is what I would use for sure
Correct. The non-surgical patients are cannulated in the same fashion. Taking care to not backwall, be gentle with needle insertion, and consider using a shorter length needle. Both fistulas can result in a split-flow outflow (potentially) so it’s important for the dialysis staff to refer to the creating surgeons guidance when selecting the best areas for cannulation.
