I’m interested in cannulating with with a 5/8” 15 gauge needles for our home hemodialysis. Our nurse said he’s unable to get that size on his order sheet. Can anyone tell me where I can buy them? I’ve searched online and can’t find that length and gauge.
Hey Lisa, I am not sure a 5/8” length fistula needle exists. To my knowledge, there are 3/5” for shallow, 1” as the standard, and 1 1/4” for deeper. If there were a 5/8” option, it would only be 0.025” longer than a 3/5” and that’s such an insignificant amount, you can really feel okay about using a 3/5” because if that length doesn’t get you there, the 5/8” wouldn’t either. Your nurse absolutely should be able to get the 3/5” as several companies make them. Hope this helps! - Jenn
