Dialsysi Patient Advocacy has a great year - consider joining in 2008

DPC Celebrates a Successful 2007; Ready for a Great 2008!

As we begin a new year, DaVita Patient Citizens (DPC) would like to take the opportunity to reflect on this past year’s successes. Our achievements are largely due to people like you, and we thank you for your commitment and support. This year will be an exciting one as we continue to not only grow our organization, but also help improve the lives of dialysis patients and their family members.

Here are some highlights of DPC’s actions toward achieving our mission in 2007:

Increased total Membership to over 22,000–our first year with full-time staff
Introduced DPC Heroes program and announced first five award winners
Hosted 4 Capitol Hill patient fly-ins and hosted over 225 Meetings with the U.S. Congress
Participated in 4 State Dialysis Days with 130 patients making over 400 visits
Sent over 3,500 emails to Members of Congress
Released first educational brochure, The Power of Iron
Released first educational newsletter supplement, For Your Health, on dietary education.
Board and Membership approval of an additional 7 Policy Statements
Created Associate Membership program for non-members—over 480 Associate Members in 2007
In 2008, DPC will continue to set the bar high for all dialysis patient organizations. Specifically, we will work to grow DPC membership to over 30,000 and hopefully have more than 400 Patient Ambassadors. We will continue to push for the passage of the major elements of the Kidney Care Quality and Education Act (KCQEA)–helping to ensure that all kidney patients achieve the highest quality of life and quality of care possible.

Thank you again for a tremendous 2007!
