Dialysis and Kidney Function

Does kidney stops functioning completely once dialysis is triggered?

Dialysis does not stop kidney function, kidney disease stops kidney function. Once dialysis starts (usually when the kidneys are still working at about 15% or less), the kidneys keep failing. Some people are able to keep a bit of function, others lose all of it.

PD has been shown to keep residual renal function longer than in-center hemo does.
