When doing telehealth audio, can I bill 90966 with pos 10 when it is a pd patient? Thank you.

One of the CMS Medicare Administrative Contractors (WPS Government Services) posted a 48-minute video from a live meeting on 6/24/2025 on billing for code 90966. You can find it here.

This a question for my wife who is on PD Dialysis. She is also a missionary serving in Zambia, Africa. Our home base is Marietta, GA. She is blessed to have a Fresenius machine and get’s the fluids in Zambia. Back in September the hospital ran out of fluids for the machine and she was doing manual. We have traveled to the USA and my wife received a machine she can travel with while in the USA, but she cannot take it back to Zambia, Africa. She would love to have a machine in Africa that she could travel with as well. So our question is, Can she purchase a travel machine? We are looking to purchase a machine for her personal use while in Zambia, Africa, that can use the fluids in Africa, so that she could travel.

Can her US clinic and nephrologist help? I believe you said she did manual exchanges because she couldn’t get the fluids for her cycler before. Can she get those fluids in Zambia now? Is there a reason why she can’t continue to do manual exchanges? Have you or she tried calling Fresenius to ask if she can purchase a PD cycler that will work with PD fluids for their cycler and get the fluids and other supplies that she needs? Here’s the contact info on Fresenius Asia. Maybe they can tell you or her if there’s a clinic that offers PD near where she is.

if she can’t get PD equipment and supplies, hemodialysis appears to be more available in Zambia. The other option is for her to consider doing missionary work in a country where PD is more available.
