Obama Declares H1N1 Flu a National Emergency

President Obama has declared the swine flu outbreak a
national emergency.

The White House on Saturday said that Mr. Obama had signed a
proclamation that would allow medical officials to bypass
certain federal requirements. Officials described the move as
similar to a declaration ahead of a hurricane making
landfall.

Another helpful government website allows you to click on your state to find out where you can get the H1N1 and the seasonal flu shots and info about H1N1 in your state for individuals/families and health professionals and information on other federal/state collaborative efforts. I didn’t look at other states, but under the federal/state collaborative efforts in my state, it lists contact info for providers interested in providing the H1N1 vaccine, my state’s pandemic plan, and the state allocation of antivirals.

People with kidney disease are advised to contact their health care provider, but there is not a link to specific information for people with kidney disease…
