In the U.S. patients do not buy the dialysis machines they use. Dialysis machines are owned or rented by a dialysis clinic. When someone no longer is using the machine, they’re supposed to return it to the clinic. I’d suggest that you contact the clinic where he was a patient or contact Baxter and give them the patient’s name to find out where and how to return the machine. It does not belong to the estate or family to sell.

Hey Fredric,
As Beth said, in the USA, patients do not usually buy their dialysis machines, they’re either owned or leased by the clinic and provided to the patients to use for as long as they are needed. This is covered. On the top of the cycler, you will see a sticker with an SN number on it. I am not sure if you knew the person who was assigned this machine or if you are an estate seller. If you do not know which dialysis provider to contact, you can call (800) 572-5722 which is Baxter’s Claria customer support line. I placed a quick call to Baxter this morning, just to check to see if this was a patient-owned or clinic-leased machine using the SN to clarify what this machine’s status is. I was able to confirm that this is NOT a patient purchased or owned machine, it is indeed leased. The original lease order number was #4213358. Please contact the clinic (if known) or Baxter for a quick and easy return, they will usually send you a box and pick it up for you. Thank you!
