Lifting Restrictions with PD Catheter?

My husband just got a PD Catheter inserted. Could anyone please give me any information concerning lifting restrictions. We were told most people lift 10 to 15 lbs. My husbands job has lots of heavy lifting. He regularly lifts 100 to 150 lbs. Would this be safe to go back to his same employer?

Please give me any information you have on this subject.

Thanks so, so much for any help you are able to give us.

If your husband will be using a cycler for PD and still has some remaining kidney function, he may be able to stay “dry” during the day (not have any PD fluid in his belly). Then he could lift heavier weights without risking a hernia. This is something he can ask his doctor about.

One study found that coughing or straining to have a bowel movement caused more of an increase in intra-abdominal pressure (which can lead to a hernia) than lifting up to 50 lbs., but it didn’t look at 100 or 150 lbs.
