My husband just started Nxstage home hemodialysis and we trained in the mornings. We have to switch his treatments to the evenings due to my work schedule and we’re having a time trying to balance his blood pressure meds before dialysis to keep it from being too low? Any suggestions?
I’m not Dr. Agar, but I’m going to leap in here because they don’t use NxStage in Australia where he is from. How experienced was your NxStage training nurse? Between him/her and the nephrologist, your husband’s blood pressure meds–or need for them at all–should have been reevaluated. In most cases, during training folks who do short dialysis HD get OFF of their blood pressure meds. If I were you, I’d have my husband call the nephrologist and ask about this.
