Mortality rate in Australia

Dr. Agar,

I put together the mortality rate for hemodialysis patients (death rate, unadjusted - usrds.org) for U.S. patients:

I’ve been looking for similar international data and don’t seem to be having much luck. Would you happen to know where I could at least get data for Australia? If you knew of data for Australia and other countries that would be really great!

Chris

P.S. Saw the thread about the book, it will be on my reading list!

Dear Plugger

Most Western countries run extensive (for the most part government funded) registries.

The following gives you a start into 4.

I am afraid I do not have the time in my practice at the moment to do more than give you a start. Each of the registries is extensive but, within the data contained therein, you should find what you need. It is all public knowledge. The Australian registry is the longest running and most year-on-year complete of them all. For all its strengths, the URSRD can also be patchy.

These references will give you a start into the world of registries … but, be warned … it can be heavy going.

Plugger …

Can you let me know - in due course - how the information I gave was received and if it made any difference.
