One Year Anniversary

[B][I]Today, December 15th, will officially be the one year anniversary of my 1st NxStage treatment. I am so stoked. I never thought a year ago that I would be here. For those that don’t know, on Sept. 2nd and 11th, 2006 respectfully, both my Mother and Brother passed away. Both in-center dialysis patients. My mother had been an ESRD patient for 5 years, my brother 1. This is now my 5th year. I was in a deep depression after their deaths and thought that I would be joining them soon. Basically, I was accepting defeat and waiting to die. My Neph had been after me to try NxStage for a while, but I kept putting it off seeing that my try at PD ended in failure. I was a PD patient 1st. Finally, I just said “what the hell? I’ll try it”. A month later I was training and 3 weeks later I was on my own at home. I got to feeling so good that the dreams I had thought were out of my reach, now seemed obtainable. I looked into getting back into College after 20 years.

Well, today, I am also proud to announce that I finished my 1st Semester back as a non-traditional freshman with a 3.2 Average. None of this would be possible without the benefit of doing my dialysis treatments at home. Thank you NxStage.

Hi LeRoy,

I’m so glad that you’re feeling so good. I’m thrilled that you’re in college and doing so well academically. Hey…on a school break why don’t you drop by your dialysis clinic and tell the patients on in-center dialysis how you’re doing and what you’ve accomplished so far. You might be just give some of them the motivation they need to make the move to home hemo themselves.

[Thanks Beth. I already do that. Usually before my office visits or if I am in the area, I’ll stop by and visit those that I was friends with while I was in-center. They are all surprised and many have inquired about NxStage. A few are considering it. I hope they come on over.

LeRoy,
Congrad’s all the way around.
I know you could do it.
Keep up the good work!
Life is Great!
