Can anyone explain how PD retention is express (units) and how would you calcualte this? I hear this term often, but how would you calculate this?
Assuming you have trained 50 patients in your program and you have lost 10 of them to HD, transplant, or death, you would have retained 40 out of the 50 patients. Your retention rate would be 80% or .8.
I notice that you’re from Gambro. Gambro has PD program directors and/or clinical managers who should be able to give you the mathematical formula for how to calculate your clinic’s peritonitis rate as well. I’ve heard that Gayle Hall is a wonderful educator and should be a resource for you.
