Could you estimate the percentage of the ESRD population presently on Home Hemodialysis? Even a ballpark (best guess) would be benefitial?
The 2011 ESRD Annual Data Report includes data on ESRD patients’ treatment type as of 12/31/2009. The number of home HD patients on that date was 4,511. This was 1.1% of the 398,861 patients on dialysis on that date. The number of home HD patients on that date was 0.8% of the 571,414 ESRD patients including the 172,553 patients with functioning transplants that date. These data are almost 2 years old so it’s possible the percentage of home HD patients has increased somewhat, but so has the number of ESRD patients.
