Dialysis Tech here: I’m new to this site and to working with HHD patients. I’m training self cannulation. So far, my Solo patients are doing amazing with self cannulation; the issue so far has been with needle REMOVAL post treatment. I can find information and videos showing cannulation techniques, but nothing showing ways to remove safely one- handed. Use safety device? Don’t use? recommended type of safety device for one handed removal? FYI I am using 16 inch tubing for pts. with upper arm accesses, but sometimes that is still too short and does not allow pt. to get a good grip on the tubing to pull out the needle. Thoughts?
