In most cases, a patient’s NxStage machine sits on top of a device called Pureflow that treats water and makes dialysate. The Pureflow has wheels and can be moved, but it needs to be connected to water and to a drain. Patients use bagged solution when traveling and if home water doesn’t meet quality standards, they use bagged solution at home. If using bagged solution, you would need to have something for it to sit on. What I’ve heard is that it will fit on an end table.
So far as electrical outages, some people have a backup generator. Some people have a If you have a short term power outage, you could have an uninterruptible power supply to give you time to return your blood and do your treatment later or the next day. If you have a power outage expected to last longer, you could take your NxStage cycler and bagged solution to another location.
